At SummerSkyz Helicopter, we want every customer to feel confident and informed before their flight. Whether you’re booking a Chicago skyline tour or planning a special event flight, here are answers to our most frequently asked questions.”
Chicago Tour & Air Ride FAQs
How long is the Chicago City Tour?
Our standard Chicago helicopter tour is approximately 35 minutes (50 miles). Including check‑in, pre‑flight briefing, and boarding, you can expect the total experience to take about one hour.
How many people can fly in the helicopter during a tour?
We can accommodate up to 3 passengers per flight in our Robinson R44 helicopters.
Can I bring a camera or phone to take pictures?
Absolutely. Photography and video recording are encouraged. Our Chicago skyline flights provide incredible photo opportunities, so bring your camera or smartphone to capture the moment.
What should I wear for my flight?
Wear comfortable, weather‑appropriate clothing. Avoid loose items like scarves or hats that could be blown away near the helicopter.
Can I bring children on a tour?
Yes! Children are welcome on our tours, but they must be able to wear a seatbelt safely and sit upright without assistance.
What are the weight limitations?
While the operating manual limitation of the R22 is 240 lbs per seat, the practical limit of our R22’s is 220 lbs. This ensures we will be able to stay within weight and balance, have a long enough flight to train, and that you will be able to fly with the examiner. R44 is a 300 lb seat weight maximum.
Gender Reveal & Event Drop FAQs
How do helicopter gender reveals work?
We coordinate with you to plan your reveal (colored smoke or aerial drops), then execute the event with precision and safety. These experiences are fully customizable for your celebration.
Are aerial event drops safe?
Yes. We use lightweight, approved materials and coordinate closely with ground teams to ensure safety for all participants and spectators.
